Some Days

Some days are bright and filled with laughter
And some with fear
Some days go by before we even know they're here
So shake the cobwebs from the rafters
And get it clear
We get one go and then we disappear
So sleep on it tonight
Maybe in the morning you will feel alright
Maybe with your sandy eyes you'll realize
This moment is all there is
It's worth the time to try and capture
The here and now
It's worth the time to try and see somehow
But clouds of thought are chasing after
And crease your brow
It seems as though they never will allow
So sleep on it tonight
Maybe in the morning you will feel alright
Maybe with your sandy eyes you'll realize
This moment is all there is
We look behind us and we look ahead
And then we turn ourselves around so we can do it again
'Though we never see the in-between
I try to quiet all the thoughts in my head
By looking closer at my breathing, but I'm dreaming instead
My brain's pinging like a submarine
Floating in an ocean of dopamine
So sleep on it tonight
Maybe in the morning you will feel alright
Maybe with your sandy eyes you'll realize this moment
Is all there is

Indisputable

Crossing an ocean to follow a notion
Wondering what will await
Only know there's no time to hesitate
No use to fight it, no poet could write it
Surrender to where we will go
Life's delivered this so apropos
This is no passing fancy
Bet it all on the chance we've taken
Finally free of the uncertainty
Standing alone face to face
Every piece of our puzzle's in place
Words in our heads find a way to be said
In a language that both of us know
Feel the walls of our hearts overflow
But what in the world is a heart for
If you're not gonna fill it with so much more?
This is so indisputable
There's no business as usual with this beautiful feeling
What a wonderful morning time with this love of mine
Every day
Hard to believe how two lives interweave
Each one using the other to grow
Life before feels like so long ago
Fortune has shaken us, look where it's taken us
Into the marrow of now
How much more can a moment allow?
Well why don't we find out together
Through the sun and the stormy weather
This is so indisputable
There's no business as usual with this beautiful feeling
What a wonderful morning time with this love of mine
Every day

It's a Bop

I'd rather push the ladder over
Than trust this matter to a worthless king
The kind that thinks he can do anything
A little better than you
You'd better heat the kettle up
My little buttercup, my chick-a-dee
And rest yourself below the cherry tree
Before you follow through
I wanna tell you a story
But I can't get the story right
Feels like driving a lorry through the dark with no headlights
It's hard enough bombarding us
And avant-garde -ing us with senseless games
Feels like we're parking, but we're changing lanes
Another point of view
You'll never get the creases out
The wrinkled pieces of a studied life
So spread the drama with a butter knife
And pray to you-know-who
I wanna tell you a story
But I can't get the story right
Feels like driving a lorry through the dark with no headlights

Greener Grass

Aren't you a silly man
For making something out of nothing just because you can
Lean on the old familiar way
Your patch is full of class
But still you're thinking about your neighbor with the greener grass
Caught up in such an old cliché
In the winter do you dream of the summer?
In the summer do you dream of the snow?
Do you wish you had somewhere else you could go?
It's just a trick of perception.
What you choose to pay attention to
Can wear you down or it can see you through tomorrow
It's so funny how we count the others lucky
For the time that they were born in
While ignoring what we could be exploring
Here's a well-intentioned warning
If you don't open your eyes
You'll never see where the flaw lies
Today is second to none
Don't be mistaken thinking everything's a practice run
One man's fear is another's hope
Shape up or ship it out
Getting dizzy passing exits on the roundabout
Spinning round like a gyroscope
In the winter do you dream of the summer?
In the summer do you dream of the snow?
Do you wish you had somewhere else you could go?
It's just a trick of perception.
What you choose to pay attention to
Can wear you down or it can see you through tomorrow
It's so funny how we count the others lucky
For the time that they were born in
While ignoring what we could be exploring
Here's a well-intentioned warning
If you don't open your eyes
You'll never see where the flaw lies

I never noticed who got through to you
Until the years had changed you
Into a little man afraid to stand
They really re-arranged you
But I remember ways of yesterdays
Don't mean to be judgemental
But I'm tired of sentimental
I won't be gentle no more
I think of what you were like back then
And now it's like you've been born again
Into a world with a tiny view
I hope it's more than enough for you
You always did seem sad that mom and dad
Could never seem to see you
And so you'd drink away another day
You couldn't bear to be you
So now I sing this song of what went wrong
And I don't mean to sound cryptic
But our orbit is elliptic
It's not apocalyptic at all
We all do what we need to do
I guess I got what I need from you
The crux of what you meant to me
Is an example of entropy

Water Flows Fast

Had it figured out, or I thought I did
Couldn't be more untrue
Never saw the route, and god forbid
I slow down to think things through
Tangled in the net of another day
The sign in the cloud says 'walk away'
It took a little while 'til I found my way
I didn't know what to do
Water flows fast, I got swept away
Lucky to have landed with you
By the grace of sheer coincidence
You came along and the world made sense
You may find happiness or heartache
The sun's gonna shine, but it might get in your eyes
But don't think standing still is the safest move to make
Sometimes the way we choose to stay is the way we run away.
